Ripon, CA - On 07/13/12, Officers from the Ripon Police Department responded to investigate an auto burglary that occurred at the bike bridge parking lot (600 Parallel Ave.) in Ripon. Upon arrival they observed the driver’s side window on a brand new Infiniti SUV had been shattered out. Officers were able to confirm with the vehicle’s owner that several items had been stolen out of the vehicle including a purse containing cash and several credit cards. Fingerprints and blood DNA of the suspect were collected at the scene and booked into evidence. A review of the city’s MESH camera system from the parking lot during the time frame of the crime revealed an African-American female adult looking into vehicles. The female suspect walks over to the SUV, and when nobody else is around, she wraps her hand in some type of cloth and punches out the window. The suspect reaches through the window into the vehicle, grabs something (purse), and flees from the scene. The collected fingerprints were submitted to the California Department of Justice Automated Latent Print System which returned a positive match on Valenica Marie Randel.
